SUPERCOMPUTERS

In 2004, we installed our own IBM supercomputer, a 56 CPU IBM JS20 Blade Center, procured as a result of winning, in fierce international competition, a Shared University Research (SUR) grant.

In addition, we run on clusters of supercomputers at UPPMAX in Uppsala.

On these computing infrastructures we run state-of-the art parallellised code developed in-house to model and visualise electromangetic turbulence and interactions in magnetised space plasma, for instance development of an HF pumped plasma and wave regeneration in an inhomogeneous plasma layer. The FORTRAN90/95 sources for the 1+1+1 and 2+2+1 dimensional Vlasov-Maxwell codes used in the examples can be downloaded here.
